Ever since BabyZ’s first birthday, I started getting DM’s from moms whose babies were almost the same age as him on how to wean a baby from breastfeeding.⠀ ⠀
I was not that surprised because I was one of those moms with my first baby. I thought one year was more than enough even when my mom kept on insisting not to wean him off early. TotT was not eating properly and few moms suggested that might be once he weans from breastfeeding he will eat. HAHA! ⠀

There is no right or wrong age to wean but there are recommendations, ⠀
✅exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months⠀
✅breastfeeding along with new foods for 2 years or more⠀
⠀
These are just recommendations from WHO. If possible you are advised to try to meet the recommendations. But weigh in your options and only you and your baby can decide when you want to wean.⠀

Why I don’t want to wean BabyZ right now when he is just 14 months old :⠀

😷Ongoing pandemic: We are in the middle of a pandemic, we don’t know when the conditions will improve. And the best immunity food I can provide my baby is breastmilk⠀

😁Convenience: I find it very convenient to feed him be it day or night. Yes, he wakes up in the night but side-lying feeding makes it easy ⠀

🤒Falling ill: I noticed with TotT that he used to fall sick more after I weaned him off breastmilk and I don’t want to repeat that mistake especially right now when taking the baby to the doctor is more dangerous ⠀

😍Special time: With a sibling around its always difficult to take out time for just BabyZ and breastfeeding is a great way to bond with him ⠀

😴Baby Sleep: It’s the easiest way to put him to sleep and I am not complaining ⠀

😢Calming him down: If he falls or his brother took his toy or he is distressed for anything. It is the easiest way to soothe him ⠀

😞Letting go: I don’t want to let go of this phase. I love it when he is with me so close and comforting because I can give him something nobody else can. I like that superpower⠀
